The Blues Brothers OST LP

Comic actors John Belushi and Dan Aykroyd rightfully get credit for exposing many people to the music of Blues and R&B veterans. The soundtrack to their hugely successful musical comedy Blues Brothers was released on June 20, 1980 as the second album by the Blues Brothers Band, which also toured that year to promote the film. The rollicking remake of the Spencer Davis Group's 'Gimme Some Lovin'' was a Billboard Top 20 hit, featuring an arrangement notable for the horn section that replaces Steve Winwood's rumbling organ work. Ray Charles has a good time with 'Shake a Tail Feather,' and he's helped out by Jake and Elwood Blues (Belushi and Aykroyd, respectively). The cover of Solomon Burke's 'Everybody Needs Somebody to Love' is a lot of fun, thanks to the great overall rhythm and Elwood's lightning-fast stage rap, while James Brown and the Reverend James Cleveland Choir provide a blast of gospel music on 'Old Landmark.' Aretha Franklin's 'Think' is explosive, and Cab Calloway's 'Minnie the Moocher' is slyly irresistible. 180 gram audiophile vinyl Original 1980 soundtrack Track Listing: Side A She Caught The Katy Peter Gunn Theme Gimme Some Lovin' Shake Your Tailfeather Everybody Needs Somebody To Love The Old Landmark Side B Think Theme From Rawhide Minnie The Moocher Sweet Home Chicago Jailhouse Rock

Two decades ago Adam Sharp's piano playing led him into a passionate relationship with Angelina Brown, an intelligent and strong-willed actress. They had a chance at something more - but Adam didn't take it. Now, on the cusp of turning 50, Adam likes his life. He's happy with his partner, Claire; he excels in music trivia at quiz night at the local pub; he looks after his mother; and he does the occasional consulting job in IT. But he can never quite shake off his nostalgia for what might have been. And then, out of nowhere, from the other side of the world, Angelina gets in touch. What does she want? Does Adam dare to live dangerously? Set to the soundtrack of our lives, The Best of Adam Sharp follows along with emotion and humor as one man looks back on his past and decides if having a second chance is worth the risk. 1. 'Noon's storytelling is assured and compelling ... it's a belter' Guardian'Constantly surprising' SpectatorA viciously occult murder.A curious clue left on the body. The soundtrack to the murder still playing...It is 1981 and Detective Inspector Henry Hobbes is still reeling in the aftermath of the fire and fury of the Brixton riots. The battle lines of society - and the police force - are being redrawn on a daily basis. With the certainties of his life already sorely tested, a brutal murder will shake his beliefs to their very core once more. The manner of the death and its staged circumstances pose many questions to which there are no obvious answers. To track the murderer, Hobbes must cross boundaries into a subculture hidden beneath the everyday world he thought he knew. His investigation takes him into a twisted reality, which is both seductive and devastating, and asks him the one question he has been dreading: How far will he go in pursuit of the truth?Jeff Noon is the author of six acclaimed novels, Vurt, Pollen, Automated Alice, Nymphomation, Needle in the Groove and Falling Out of Cars, as well as two collections of short fictions, and is also the crime fiction reviewer for The Spectator. He lives in Brighton.
